Hello, I am Mateo
I work as a project manager, I am a parent, and I’m an expat living in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back I moved here with my family, and what began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of my life overseas.
How It Started
Relocating to Spain wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expatriate moves, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The first months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Silk Cove Brook
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical advice grounded in real life in Spain.
What This Site Does (And Doesn't)
This site IS:
- Hand-on insights gained from life in Spain
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism-authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Spain goes on, as does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Mateo
